David Burns is Chief Information Officer (CIO) of GE and GE Aerospace. As CIO of GE, he leads the company’s global Digital Technology organization and is responsible for the successful operation of the company’s technology infrastructure and supporting applications. David’s organization focuses on securely developing and running applications to enable GE’s business processes and outcomes as the company focuses on plans to form three industry-leading, global public companies.
As CIO of GE Aerospace, David leads the IT strategy and services supporting the global GE Aerospace business. He has been instrumental in leading the technology strategy and is focused on driving a consistent framework for how information flows through the business to optimize outcomes for customers, investors, and employees.
David joined GE in 1998 and has held leadership roles in multiple businesses, including Aerospace, Lighting, Capital, Corporate, Energy, Oil & Gas, and Transportation. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology and Operations/Strategic Management from Boston College.
David will serve as CIO of GE and GE Aerospace until the planned spin-off of the GE Vernova business, at which point, he will lead the GE Aerospace Digital Technology organization going forward.
