FEATURE/GE Monogram Wine Chiller and Beverage Center; At Home in Any Room of the House

October 31, 2002

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 31, 2002--When it comes to chilling beverages, the new GE Monogram(R) wine chiller and beverage center are perfect for those who love to entertain and display wine & spirits.

Consumers can easily showcase personal taste and a confident sense of style with these new models. Whether you're a wine connoisseur or just want your favorite beverages at your fingertips, you'll be impressed with these new products from GE.

The clean lines and timeless design of these new Monogram products blend well with all of the home's relaxation spots - whether it's the family room, pool house, guest bedroom, or mother-in-law's suite, according to Mary Jo Peterson, certified kitchen and bath designer, author of Gracious Spaces and member of the National Kitchen and Bath Association's Team of Practicing Instructors.

Performance and luxury are key to the wine chiller and beverage center, which are designed with beveled stainless steel edges and a black case for a sleek, sophisticated look.

Both units feature exquisite shelf fronts of unfinished cherry wood that may be customized to fit any decor, and both may be used as freestanding or built-in units. The wine chiller holds up to 57 wine bottles, and the beverage center accommodates 12 wine bottles and up to 126 (12-ounce) cans.

All seven of the wine chiller's shelves are on full-extension slides making it easy for hosts and guests to peruse a wine connoisseur's collection. Use several wine chillers as a staging area for bringing wines to serving temperature or to create your very own wine cellar anywhere in the house.

As a companion to the wine chiller or installed alone, the beverage center creates an appealing refreshment oasis anywhere in the house. Extendable, spillproof glass shelves make the beverage center an entertainer's new best friend. Hosts may easily reach all items in the beverage center quickly and conveniently.

The resurgence of butlers pantries or serving areas adjacent to the dining room makes a wine chiller or beverage center a must in this area, noted Ms. Peterson. Here guests can help themselves without interrupting the cook. With the increase in informal entertaining, they are also becoming an integral component in the beverage center of the great room, she continued.

Many consumers and designers are thinking creatively and placing wine chillers and beverage centers in the pool house or in the home's back foyer, convenient for those with wet swimsuits or muddy gardening boots, Ms. Peterson said. I have even seen them positioned as a juice bar in an exercise room or as a morning kitchen in a master suite, she explained.

Both the wine chiller and beverage center are equipped with adjustable temperature controls to cool wines and other beverages to precise temperatures, and soft interior lighting is controlled by an external switch. The interior automatically illuminates when the door is opened.

The Monogram wine chiller and beverage center will be available in December 2002.

The wine chiller (model ZDWC240NBS) and the beverage center (model ZDBC240NBS) each have a suggested retail price of $1099.

General Electric (NYSE: GE) has been bringing good things to life for more than a century, and sells products under the Monogram(R), Profile(TM), GE(R), Hotpoint(R), and SmartWater(TM) brands.
