GE Power Systems Acquires KVB-Enertec, a Leader In Air Emissions Monitoring and Data Acquisition

February 13, 2002

GE Power Systems Acquires KVB-Enertec, a Leader In Air Emissions Monitoring and Data Acquisition ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 13, 2002--GE Power Systems today announced the acquisition of KVB-Enertec, one of the largest suppliers of air emissions monitoring and data acquisition in the U.S.

With this latest addition, GE Power Systems continues to invest in products and services to meet the growing needs of its power generation and industrial customers for the reduction, monitoring and documentation of a wide range of regulated air pollutants. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

KVB-Enertec was created in 1998 when two leaders in the emissions monitoring business merged. Enertec, a leading data acquisition system supplier, acquired KVB, one of the largest integrators of continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS). Both companies have been among the leaders in air emissions monitoring systems since the 1970s.

In addition to designing and building CEMS that meet federal, state and local requirements, KVB-Enertec offers a full range of CEM life-cycle support services.

The acquisition of KVB-Enertec is a critical building block for our growing portfolio of air quality systems and services, said Henry Stueber, general manager of Optimization Solutions, a division of GE Power Systems. GE is pleased to add KVB-Enertec's Data Acquisition Handling Software and Continuous Monitoring Systems to our existing offerings, providing a more complete plant optimization solution for our customers.

Rick Whiffen, president of KVB-Enertec, commented, We look forward to being a part of the GE team. GE Power Systems' expertise in the industry and strong commitment to quality will help us develop into the leading global supplier of state-of-the-art emissions monitoring systems.

KVB-Enertec is headquartered in Hatfield, PA, near Philadelphia, and also has a facility in Rancho Santa Margarita, near Irvine, CA. The company has 140 employees and generates annual sales of approximately $29 million.
