CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Fighter Engine Team (FET) today announced it has committed to bear all costs for continued development of the competitive F136 fighter engine for the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) through the end of fiscal year 2012.
Hundreds of leaders across the military, government, defense industry, and media gathered in Simi Valley, California, last weekend at the 10th annual Reagan National Defense Forum to discuss the current and future state of the U.S. military.
“Day to day, we’re right there with all of our military customers assuring readiness while we invest in next-generation platforms,” said GE chairman and CEO and GE Aerospace CEO Larry Culp.
It’s safe to say most people who have traveled by air have encountered GE Aerospace products during their journey. Engines made by GE Aerospace or its partner companies power three-quarters of the world’s flights. Just as notable is GE’s work with militaries around the world.
GE’s world-class engines and integrated systems benefit from the company’s investment in both military and commercial technologies, and their performance and reliability have earned them the trust of warfighters and nations across the globe.
The U.S. House of Representatives is leading the charge for defense acquisition reform by voting 400 to 30 on Wednesday for a defense spending bill for fiscal year 2010 that includes $560 million in funding for the GE Rolls-Royce Fighter Team's F136 engine for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF).
